A peptic ulcer is an open sore or raw area in the lining of the stomach or intestine.
There are two types of peptic ulcers:
1)Gastric ulcer -occurs in the stomach
2)Duodenal ulcer - occurs in the first part of the small intestine

Causes/Risk factors 🦠
1)Infection by H. pylori Bacteria
2)Overuse of over-the-counter painkillers (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen)
3)Heavy alcohol use
4)Psychological stress
5)Smoking
Symptoms
1)Gnawing or burning pain in your middle or upper stomach between meals or at night.
2)Pain that temporarily disappears if you eat something or take an antacid.
3)Bloating.
4)Heartburn.
5)Nausea or vomiting.
How To Relieve The Symptoms
Probiotics eg yoghurt
Ginger
Plantain bananas
Honey
Turmeric
Chamomile
Garlic
Milk doesn't!- makes ulcers worse
Treatment
1)Proton pump inhibitors (PPI)
2)Histamine receptor blockers
3)Antibiotics
4)Protective medications
