#Thread Today we will explore another side of the Syrian conflict, one not often seen by western observers namely the gastronomical sector and a number of their interesting (albeit seemingly unlicensed) offerings. The first such curiosty is the Idlib based chain "KFC"
1/
modeled after the American company KFC. The menu resembles the orignal but has been adapted to the Syrian market. The first image shows a kids menu served at a KFC in Idlib. The first KFC was opened in Idlib City in 2020, later several more opened in Atma and al-Dana (Idlib).
2/
Here is the al-Dana KFC, which recently opened.
In the same bulding as the al-Dana KFC is also a gym which is called Badr 313 (in reference to the Taliban Badr 313 "special forces" unit).
3/
Keeping in line with the American touch, the next restaurant is Disneyland! Its located in Idlib city and opened in 2019. The menu is not known, its probably similar to other Disney restaurans but w/ a Syrian touch. The place also features attractions and games for kids.
4/
But there’s also innovation and not just copying, such as the N-Cafe (North Cafe, referring to the Northwestern area of Syria where it is located) which serves takeout coffee. This place appears to be liked by foreign fighters.
5/
Also liked by foreign fighters, and likely in particular by the German fighters is the German Bakery which produces a variety baked goods and delivers them all over Idlib (and sells some items in local stores). They offer two main types of goods, German bread and Cheesecake.
6/
Favoured by local and foreign fighters, the Whey protein drink shop in Idlib city. They supply mainly protein drinks made by the company Whey, to fighters training at their groups or private gyms. Like the gym in the KFC in al-Dana, there are many similar facilities in Idlib.
7/
And of course there is also a Sushi place, which has been frequenten by Chechen foreign fighters.
