📧 LEAKED: Reddit CEO's e-mail to the company on ~80% of Subreddit's going dark: "We'll get through it"
The response to the leak has been bad for Reddit. Already 15-20% of Mods who were planning to go dark for 48 hours are indefinitely extending it. What got them so upset? 3 things 👇
1. He understates the amount of Subreddits that have gone dark
2. He says there's no revenue impact.
3. He signals they are not moving to save Apollo or RIF. He doesn't seem to be coming to save the largest apps at the center of the controversy.
The 48 hour revolt has become a longer-term problem for Reddit. Reddit's CEO, Steve, has been at Reddit since its earliest days - he coded the 1st version of the site - so he's seen EVERY controversy. It will be interesting to see if he holds steady on API pricing.
