>>> MEGA Thread 🧡 <<<
Resentment, hopelessness, regret & guilt..
This is what you feel every time you try to break a habit or quit an addiction.
You've tried it before and always crushing defeat. Over and over again..
This whole charade has left you, and the ones you love drained and desperate..
Today I speak to you because,,
I want you to understand.
It's easy to give up.
Don't.
Not yet.
Not before you've heard what I have to say..
Understand this brother,
You are failing because nobody has told you how to win.
There is more to beating a habit than just willpower..
The way you've approached this problem is to use determination and will power to say NO, not again..
BUT the human will is limited. It is not infinite.
To fight a demon like addiction you need more..
Better weapons.
To beat any addiction you need a combination of a few things,
A) Emotional investment
B) Willpower
C) Systems and processes
When all of these 3 are working in synchronization, the addiction is just a fly to swat. Quitting becomes very easy.
Let me walk you through this..
All addictions are a means to escape.
You indulge because you are desperately trying to escape something.
This could be conscious or sub - conscious..
Emotions, stress, boredom, routine or even the pain of craving
Anything that makes your life feel uncomfortable.
Lets start here.
I want you to be rational & think with me.
How does one beat a habit & rewire his brain to go back to its natural state?
There is only one answer, he needs to distance himself from the habit long enough for his body to detox & brain to rewire.
Okay, how?
When you know your final destination, you can reverse engineer the process to fill in the blanks.
Let me explain..
The first hurdle that you will face when you abstain is restlessness & irritability. It peaks to a point where you want to relapse just to feel better again..
Why does this happen? one or the other chemical disturbance from your choice of poison..
Let's not dwell on this. Lets focus on solutions.
Your first step is to build a framework to your life - that will allow you to abstain with minimal disturbance.
HOW?
STart here -
Your life currently is in a state of chaos.
You need to move in this direction :
Chaos - controlled chaos - order
Most people try and jump from chaos to total order. It will collapse.
You need an interim step.
You will control your chaos with anchoring.
This is how..
Assign 3 tasks that add the most value to your life & set them as your anchors.
Example - Workout in the morning
Sauna / Outdoor walk in the evening
Prayer, meditation at night.
Can be any task, must be meaningful & make you feel better.
You need to do it everyday.
NOW,,
For 2 weeks only focus on getting your anchors right.
Leave out abstinence or working on anything else FOR NOW.
Just get your anchors right and turn them into an integrated part of your everyday life.
End of 2 weeks you will have some order in your life & some momentum.
Now
You will do 2 things at once,
You will start to add other supplementary habits that will benefit you (becomes easier once you have anchors in place)
&
You will start eliminating negative habits one at a time.
There's a way to go about this..
Most of the time you will find
.. That you're stacking habits.
Porn with instagram & doom scrolling
Alcohol with weed or nicotine
You get the drift.
Find the core of the stack
If looking at IG makes you want to watch porn, cut out IG completely
Alcohol makes you want to smoke? cut out alcohol
HOW>?
Now that you're a few weeks in, practice your anchors everyday and have a solid streak of momentum going,
It's time to find your triggers & build systems for abstinence.
Triggers - Time, location, emotional state, People, things, sounds, smells etc
Identify & eliminate
Next,
Systems to prevent relapse.
You relapse due to mid brain activation & frontal cortex disengagement.
What do you think is the logical step when you feel like using?
Get your frontal cortex back in play. (rational mind / decision making - active)
Build out IF - THEN systems
FYI,
I walk my clients through the entire 12 week program with 1 on 1 coaching.
