Many journalists, including some I respect, signed a deeply dishonest and unfair letter about the Times' coverage of trans issues that will age like July milk. Our field is littered w/folks who'd be much more at home in activism and should do that instead.

2/ There was a fundamental incompetence to the letter, including links not coming close to backing up the factual claim and, in some cases, downright lies, that make me wonder (hope? I guess?) many of the signatories didn't actually read it and were pressured into signing.
3/ The president of WPATH, according to the Times, has declared that journalists simply shouldn't write about this issue at all, because if they do bad people could do bad things. Good luck with that!
4/ Tom Scocca got a lot of attention by claiming the NYT had written 15,000 words of Bad (according to Tom Scocca) articles about trans people. He left out the denominator -- something like 891,000 words on trans issues, the vast majority of it completely uncontroversial to libs.
5/ Okay, done. Read it. I just want people to realize how much power bad actors in progressive media have to gin up imaginary controversies that consume huge amounts of energy and, in cases like this one, do unfair reputational damage to good journalists.
