There's a wisdom in the delays we experience in our heavenly purpose - Christ was introduced by Matthew's Gospel as "the Son of David, the Son of Abraham."
Wisdom will multiply with vivid, revelational clarity when we pay close attention to these 2 saints.
They both experienced "delays". Please note that we are speaking as humans.
There's nothing like delay in God's perspective, HE is patiently and lovingly nurturing His son/daughter for the blessing.

Christ was called "the root and the offspring of David." David's kingship was a gift of grace, an offspring of Christ's making. But HE can't be the offspring without first being the root.
Christ won't Omega what HE didn't Alpha.
Lest you boast that you did it. HE doesn't complete man's works, HE re-does them. "First make the roots holy...", says the wisdom of the heavens.
The eternal One is at work in your life to fit you for purpose. By whose timetable and standards do we define "delays"? Did we author the timetable?
To be the root, HE has to uproot the wrong trees in the imagination first, by replacing them with the incorruptible seed of the promise. Christ doesn't launder our reputations, HE authors and captains them.
Stay believing. It shall amaze you.
