I worked on a postcard campaign for an e-commerce brand where we spent less than $900 and made back $43,000 in sales.
That's almost a 4,700% ROI in less than a week.
We used this software called @getpostpilot
Here’s the story…
🧵
We whipped up an offer with an incentive and a deadline…
We mailed this offer to our “win back” segment from Klaviyo (people who hadn’t purchased in X days)...
And then… money rolled in.
I know, I know… you’re waiting for the punchline.
Turns out, it can be that simple.
You send out postcards and money comes back.
Here’s why…
This client of mine had a good sized customer list. They’re dialed in on the email front. I’ve also been helping them with their SMS campaigns.
In terms of owned revenue, they’re killing it.
But when we layered on direct mail, their results exploded.
The cool thing about direct mail is even if your customers don’t open your emails, you have their physical address.
Every one flips through their mail, even if they decide on tossing some of it. They’ll at least SEE your offer as they're flipping through their mail each day.
Win Backs are just ONE of the many cool campaigns you can run with Post Pilot
Here are 8 more…
1. Abandoned Carts
Let's say someone adds items to their cart.
You send them automated abandonment recovery emails. You send them some automated SMS messages, too.
They still don’t buy.
The opportunity is lost, right?
Wrong!
You can send out a cart abandonment recovery postcard a few days later.
With Post Pilot, there’s no minimum threshold for mailing postcards.
You can have one postcard go out at a time.
This is completely automated… just like how Klaviyo will automatically send out a flow email.
2. Site abandonment
If someone visits your site but doesn’t buy or sign up for your list… Post Pilot can try to match their pixel data with a physical address.
A day later, they get a postcard from your brand.
It’s an easy way to convert more anonymous browsers into buyers.
Here's an example of a Site Abandonment campaign I got from @thefarmersdog
3. Conversion Campaigns
Post Pilot has this feature called Mail Match where they’ll match your subscribers’ emails with physical addresses. So if they’re not converting on email… you can convert them with a postcard.
4. VIP campaigns
Once customers cross your “VIP” threshold… you can send them a special offer in the mail.
It’s a great way to keep your whales buying over and over again.
5. Second-purchase campaigns
If you’ve got a retention problem, you can cross-sell products with a postcard.
After customers make their first purchase, you can start making other offers for popular products
6. New product launches
If you want to have a record-breaking launch, you’ve gotta build a lot of buzz.
Postcards can be used to raise awareness and also to make sales once your new product is officially live on your site.
7. Black Friday
Worried about standing out in the inbox on Black Friday? Stand out by showing up in your customers PHYSICAL mailbox.
Again, you can use these to build buzz, make special “early bird offers”, or to compliment your online campaigns.
8. New Customer Acquisition Campaigns
Post Pilot has a feature where they can create lookalike audiences from your existing customer base.
You tell them the kind of people you want to target and they’ll find the addresses.
Truth is…
This is what direct mail services have been doing forever, way before the internet existed.
@getpostpilot just makes it easy and frictionless.
If you want to get started on your first direct mail campaign, here’s what to do next:
