If you're an overthinker, read this:
If you struggle with overthinking, you’re not alone.
Studies found that 70% of 25-35 year olds chronically overthink.
It’s time to put an end to the:
• Sleepless nights
• Second-guess every decision
• Replaying scenarios in your head
Here’s how…
1. Recognize it
The first step to overcoming overthinking is to be able to recognize when it’s happening.
Pay attention to your thoughts and physical symptoms.
Notice if you’re repeating the same thoughts in your mind or jumping to worse-case scenarios.
2. Reflect
Set aside time and space to think things through.
Choose a specific time to reflect on your thoughts and worries.
Find a quiet and distraction-free location where you can focus.
Use a journal to help organize and work through your thoughts.
3. Take a break
Taking a break can clear your head and help you regain a sense of perspective.
It will also give your mind to rest.
Take some deep breaths and focus on your breath to calm your mind.
4. Challenge your thoughts
Now that you had some time to think, it’s time to challenge your thoughts.
What are the thoughts that come to mind?
Ask yourself if your thoughts are realistic or helpful.
Focus on facts rather than assumptions or emotions.
5. Practice mindfulness
Mindfulness helps you stay present.
It will make you aware of your:
• Actions
• Feelings
• Thoughts
Being mindful will help you focus on the present and not get caught up in what-ifs or worry.
6. Get active
Physical activity is a great way to help clear your head and reduce stress.
These activities can include:
• Biking
• Running
• Lifting weights
Exercise for at least 30 minutes on most days of the week.
7. Get enough sleep
Lack of sleep can contribute to overthinking.
It can leave your mind more prone to racing thoughts and anxiety.
Make sure to prioritize getting enough sleep to help keep your mind clear and focused.
Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night.
