But many of us struggle with "khushu" in Salah
Here are some practical tips that will help:
Pray 2 Rakaths before every fardh prayer. This will help you prepare your mind and heart for the obligatory prayer and practice your concentration. Sunnah prayers are also a great way to earn extra rewards and blessings from Allah.
Learn the meaning of the Surahs which you recite in Salah. The Quran is a powerful and beautiful message from Allah that can touch our hearts and minds. By understanding what we are reciting, we can appreciate the wisdom and guidance of Allah and feel more connected to Him.
Recite a Surah which you do not recite often. This will help you avoid repetition and boredom and keep your attention on the words of Allah. You can also vary the length and theme of the Surahs you recite to make your Salah more interesting and diverse.
Offer your Salah as if itβs your last. Imagine that this is the final chance you have to stand before Allah and ask for His forgiveness and mercy. How would you pray then? With sincerity, humility, gratitude, and hope. Pray as if you are seeing Allah or He is seeing you.
Identify the reasons which distract you during Salah and eliminate them. Find a quiet and clean place to pray where there is no noise or disturbance. Turn off your phone or put it on silent mode. Avoid praying near anything that might catch your eye or tempt you.
Always offer your Salah in congregation. Praying with others can help you stay focused and motivated in your Salah. You can also benefit from the recitation and supplication of the imam and follow his example. Praying in congregation also increases the reward from Salah
Focus on the meanings of the words and actions of Salah. Remember that every movement and utterance in Salah has a purpose and significance.
Try to reflect on what you are saying and doing and how it relates to your faith and life. For example, when you say Allahu Akbar, remember that Allah is greater than anything else.
Seek refuge from Shaytan before and during Salah. Shaytan is our sworn enemy who wants to ruin our Salah and make us forget Allah. We should seek Allah's protection from his whispers and tricks by saying :
"A'udhu billahi minash shaytanir rajeem (I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed Shaytan)."
May Allah grant us all concentration and sincerity in our Salah and make it a source of peace, guidance, and happiness for us in this life and the next. Ameen.
