Hypertensive and cerebral amyloid angiopathy are 2 of the most common causes of intracranial micro-hemorrhage 🧠
💡Recognizing the pattern of micro bleeds can help determine etiology

💡 Typical hypertensive micro bleed pattern (best seen on SWI/T2*):
▶️Deep gray matter
▶️Brainstem
▶️Less commonly, peripheral
💡 Hypertensive angiopathy can result in both hemorrhage or ischemia
💡 Other findings which may help in the diagnosis include lacunar infarcts, basal ganglia perivascular spaces and white matter hyperintensities
💡 Typical micro bleed pattern in cerebral amyloid angiopathy (best seen on SWI/T2*):
▶️Peripheral cortical and subcortical microhemorrhages
▶️Parietal and occipital lobes most commonly involved
▶️Tend to spare basal ganglia and brainstem
💡 May also have lobar hemorrhages, lobar lacunar infarcts, convexity subarachnoid hemorrhage, superficial siderosis, cerebral atrophy, and clinical signs of dementia
