Surah Yousef has one of the most beautiful stories in the Quran.
It is full of lessons and wisdom to learn from
Here are some of them:
1. Trust in Allah’s plan.
Prophet Yousef was thrown into a well by his brothers, sold as a slave, accused of a crime he did not commit, and imprisoned for years.
Yet, he never lost hope or faith in Allah.
He knew that Allah had a purpose for everything that happened to him
2. Be patient and persevere.
Prophet Yousef faced many hardships and challenges, but he never gave up or complained.
He endured with patience and gratitude, knowing that Allah would reward him for his sabr (patience).
He said:
“Indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good.” [12:90]
3. Be honest and truthful.
Prophet Yousef was tested with temptation when the wife of his master tried to seduce him.
He refused and said:
“Indeed, he is my master; he has made good my residence. Indeed, wrongdoers will not succeed.” [12:23] He preferred to be imprisoned than to sin
4. Forgive and forget.
Prophet Yousef was reunited with his brothers after many years.
They did not recognize him, but he recognized them.
He did not seek revenge or hold a grudge against them.
He forgave them and said:
“No blame will there be upon you today. Allah will forgive you; and He is the most merciful of the merciful.” [12:92]
5. Be humble and grateful.
Prophet Yousef was given a high position and authority in Egypt.
He was reunited with his father and his family.
He did not become arrogant or proud of his achievements.
He thanked Allah and said:
“My Lord, You have given me [something] of sovereignty and taught me of the interpretation of dreams. Creator of the heavens and earth, You are my protector in this world and in the Hereafter.” [12:101]
May Allah make us among those who learn from the story of Prophet Yousef and follow his example of trust, patience, honesty, forgiveness, humility, and gratitude.
Ameen
