All know that Marathas suffered a disastrous defeat against Abdali at the Battle of Panipat (14 Jan 1761 AD).

When Mir Ali Khan, the brother and diwan of Nizam Salabat Jung heard of Maratha defeat at Panipat;
He despatched his general Lala Brijdas to conquer and devastate Maratha territories.
Brijdas made impressive conquests and carried out devastations and levied tributes.

Battle of Aurangabad— On 17th November 1761, Nizam Salabat Jung defeated Raghunathrao and forced him to retreat from Aurangabad.
Battle of Daulatabad — On 23rd November 1761, Nizam Salabat Jung defeated Raghunathrao again in his attempt to capture Daulatabad fort.

Battle — On 30th November 1761, Nizam Salabat Jung defeated Marathas.
Conquest of Naldurg — Nizam marches to Naldurg, defeats Marathas and conquers it.
Conquest of Hindu sacred towns of Tonka and Parvsangam — Nizam Ali captures them and destroys them and their temples.

Conquest of Chas — On 8th December 1761, Nizam captured Chas from Marathas.
Battle of Shrigonda— On 14th December 1761, Nizam's generals defeat Marathas & loot Scindhia's palace.
Coward family of Peshwa and Marathas leave Pune and run to hills for safety fearing Nizam.

Battle of Ahmadnagar — On December 1761, Mir Ali Khan defeated Raghunathrao on the outskirts of Ahmadnagar.
Battle of Turkabad — On December 1761, Mir Ali Khan defeated and slaughtered Marathas then pursued them upto ten miles.

Battle of Ghod river — On 26th December 1762, Nizam Salabat Jung defeated Marathas despite munity in his army.
Invasion of Poona — Nizam Salabat Jung then directly marched to Pune, the capital of Peshwas. The Marathas fearful of destruction at the surrendered to Nizam.

Treaty — On 2nd January 1762, Peshwa Madhavrao and his uncle Raghunathrao ceded territories worth 27 lakhs annually to Nizam.
Mir Ali Khan then returned from Pune and punished Ramchandra Jadhav, a maratha general for treachery by plundering his Panch mahal jagirs.

Soon, a civil war started between Peshwa Madhavrao and his uncle Raghunathrao. Nizam aided Raghunathrao who then defeated Peshwa.
Treaty of Paragaon — Raghunathrao ceded territories worth 50 lakhs annually to Nizam Ali Khan Bahadur ) on 27th November 1762 for his aid.

Outcomes of Nizam Salabat Jung and Nawab Mir Ali Khan's campaign of 1761-1762 AD :
- The stains of Nizam's defeat at Udgir in 1760 was washed and Maratha pride was humbled.
- Nizam gained a total of territories worth 77 lakhs annually.
- Mughal prestige was revived.
