OpenAI just released its Code interpreter to all Plus users.
You now have access to a junior programmer at the speed of your fingertips.
Here's everything you need to know:
Code interpreter is a new experimental feature. It can:
• Use Python
• Access files you've uploaded
• Download the results of your work
Let's explore some use cases.
1/ Image manipulation
• Upload an image
• Manipulate size & colour
• Download the finished product
2/ Data analysis
• Upload a csv file
• Ask questions about the data
• Create chart & graph visualisations
3/ Converting files between formats
Wharton professor Ethan Mollick uploaded a CSV file of every lighthouse located in the US.
His prompt:
"Create a gif of a map of the lighthouse locations, where the map is very dark but each lighthouse twinkles."
Rollout to ChatGPT Plus users is taking place over the next week.
To enable code interpreter:
• Click on your name
• Select beta features in settings
• Toggle on the beta features you want to try
The use cases are growing daily, making once-complex tasks totally frictionless.

What fundamentally excites me about this is it's only the first iteration.
At the moment GPT-4 is like having a talented analyst with a bad memory.
When we fix the memory component, this will lead to huge disruption.
