Following the gruesome killings of some law abiding citizens of Enugu State at the popular Ugwu Di Nso Eke area of the State by persons suspected to be officers of the @HQNigerianArmy, and in line with his commitment to escalate the unfortunate incident...
@HQNigerianArmy with a view to arriving at its root cause, Rt. Hon. Sunday Cyriacus Umeha, yesterday,12th July 2023 moved a motion on the Floor of the House of Representatives, calling for a holistic investigation into the most unfortunate incident.
@HQNigerianArmy After Members of the House adopted the resolutions arising from the well crafted motion, Hon. Umeha with the leave of the Speaker of the House, proceeded to read out the four-prong prayers on the motion paper which circumscribes the resolution of the House, namely:
@HQNigerianArmy 1.Setting up an adhoc committee to investigate the gruesome murder of Nigerians in Enugu in order to punish those found culpable with a view to forestalling a reoccurrence of such barbaric act;
@HQNigerianArmy 2. Overhauling of the security architecture of the entire state in line with the new Federal Government posture and determination to ensure adequate protection of life and properties of Nigerians as guaranteed by law;
@HQNigerianArmy 3. Urge the @NigeriaGov to compensate the families of those that lost their lives in the unfortunate incident and to further take care of those who were injured as well as their medical expenditure; and
@HQNigerianArmy @NigeriaGov 4. Finally, urging the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide relief materials to victims of the gunshot.
@HQNigerianArmy @NigeriaGov The well articulated motion was seconded by Hon. Blessing Amadi, representing Por Harcourt (2) and was subsequently carried by the Majority of the House when put to voice-vote.
@HQNigerianArmy @NigeriaGov The intervention represents Rt. Hon. Umeha's commitment to the security and welfare of members of the Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constituency in particular and Nigerians at large which forms the core of his Legislative Agenda.
