2200 years ago in 200 BC ports of Arabia & Sri Lanka were under complete control of Gujarati people.Gujarat's foreign trade is very ancient.Relation of Gujarat & Arabia is more than 3000 years old.There were Arab traders' settlements on the sea coast of Gujarat in ancient time.
There are many common words in Arabic & Sanskrit. It is difficult to ascertain from which language these words are originated.Some common Arabic & Sanskrit words: Shita-Shit-cold; Aram-Aram-rest; Bin-Van-forest; Sarir-Sharir-body; Shak-Shanka-doubt; Badan-Vadan-face.
7th century Sanskrit books of astronomy & astrology "Brahmasfutsiddhant" & "Khandkhadyakaran" were written by astronomer Brahmagupta of Gujarat. They were translated into Arabic as Sindhid & Al Arkand. These books became popular in Arabia.
Koteshwar & Bhadravati/Bhdreshwar of Kutch were major ports of Gujarat in ancient time.Their sea trade was with Java,Sumatra,China,Lanka,Arabia & Africa.Many Arab travellers & historians visited Gujarat in ancient time.Their travelogues written in Arabic describe ancient Gujarat.
In ancient age there were settlements of Arab traders on the sea coast of Kutch. In Solanki time Muslim traders lived in Bharuch & Khambhat.According to Arab historians Al Biduri 840 AD & Khurdadba 912 AD there were settlements of Arab traders on Kutch sea coast in 9 & 10 century
