Rather than handouts, focus on empowering people. Look for people who are driven and give them access to opportunities as available and reduce the burden on yourself.
You're not the saviour of the world, and do not try to be. You'd burn out in the process.

Most humans are selfish and generally look for what they can get from you.
Be logical in your giving, and this includes time and effort. Don't allow people to push their responsibilities on to you.

As soon as you get comfortable, move on. Try something new. Stretch yourself.
Always force yourself to learn new things. You stay ahead of the curve that way.

I have 3 people I learn from, and I always make sure I'm picking and gleaning off them.
To sustain relationships like these. Provide value, you're shouldn't be seen as a parasite as a mentee. What value are you giving in return?
