Research-Backed, 3-Step Method to :
• Hack Your Brain
• Break Bad Habits
• Never relapse
(This works for literally any habit)
You don't want to miss this self engineering thread 🧵
Ask yourself this,
How often have you felt like a slave to your own impulses?
Living on autopilot, moving through life in a haze
Repeating the same self destructive habits with no sense of control
Failing to change, even when you desperately wanted to?
Here's the truth..
The reason this happens is simple.
You indulge in an activity - this spikes your dopamine - there is glutamate release - it creates triggers
Now,
When you encounter a trigger,
Your frontal cortex (conscious brain) shuts off and the mid brain (emotional brain) takes over..
While much of the decision-making process takes place in other parts of the brain (such as the prefrontal cortex),
There is proof of the mid brain's propensity to take over in certain circumstances.
This is why you feel like you have no control..
Because it's true, you don't
So what do we do then?
How do we stop this pattern of behavior?
With this 3 step method,
1) Stop the mid brain take over
2) Address the trigger
3) Repetition
Let me tell you how to do this..
Remember, this is not theory.
I have implemented this very framework with all my clients on my program.
This works for problems like porn, smoking, weed, alcohol, social media, binge eating, gambling, nicotine, adderall or any habit you can think of
The basics are the same
Start with Awareness training :
This is the foundation on which this entire 3 step method is based on
Logically try and understand this,
If you want to stop switching over to the emotional processing mid brain,
What's the first requirement?
You need to train your awareness to a degree where you notice exactly when this happens
Why is this important?
Think about every single time you relapse.
It is immediate, it just happens soon as you're triggered
There's no distance between thought & action
How do we train to do this?
There are several methods to practice.
The one I've found easiest and most efficient is the Boyd's loop (OODA framework). There are other's but this is the simplest. (google it)
I coach my clients on how to do this
Super effective
Now, when you train your mind to recognize patterns,
you will learn how to better orient yourself
This brings us to the next step,
Trigger handling :
You are aware of your triggers and notice when you come in contact with one.
You identify your behavior shift and..
Learn to put distance between your emotion & action.
Understand this, ALL relapse happens because you fuse with a thought, feeling or emotion.
You need to fix this. It is a skill you need to practice.
How do you do this? How to distance yourself?
Let me explain..
FYI, this is an actual framework I use to help people on my program
Brain chemistry healing from dopamine addictions is my speciality

Now moving on...
When you feel yourself slipping into the point just before relapse (mid brain activation)
You pro - actively implement some systems into your life
Remember, this is the point of no return.
If you step past this, you WILL relapse
You need to act now. HOW?
Immediate action systems.
Simple IF - THEN automation to keep your forebrain active & disengage your emotional brain
If I encounter "x" I will do "Y"
This takes away any reliance on willpower
P.S, I design custom systems & sequences for all my clients on my program
Finally, the least sexy part. Repetition.
You quiet the mid brain and handle your triggers well for long enough to give your brain time to heal.
Time to recovery is specific to each individual, but..
In 12 weeks you should have improved significantly.
This is how you hack your brain and behavior patterns to engineer a recovery plan for yourself.
Put this into action and see results.
