We’re told that we lose our identity when we become mothers and we can’t possibly find ourselves with the distraction of having children…that couldn’t be further from the truth. It is through motherhood that I truly found myself and what I’m made of.
They are desperately trying to separate baby from mother. My kids shaped me and drove me to become more than I ever would’ve without them. They taught me patience, empathy, to overcome pain, to heal. Motherhood is a core part of my being. It defines who I am on the deepest level.
Motherhood can be tough, it can feel like part of you is dying but that just means you’re ready to be reborn, into something greater. It is only the women who fight this change, who refuse to adapt and grow that feel they have lost themselves.
Motherhood is to be done with grace and mercy. You have to surrender to the waves or it will sink you. You have to forgive. You have to count your blessings and be grateful. Sometimes you even have to mother yourself. You fulfill a greater purpose and come out stronger in the end
Every ounce of stress is washed away the moment that baby smiles, giggles, hugs, or kisses you. When they want to be just like you, you’ll be overcome with adoration. When they learn something new you’ll jump with joy. You’ll never truly know love until you’ve experienced this.
