You're probably seeing Worldcoin all over your timeline
Here’s everything you need to know about #worldcoin and how to qualify for their #Airdrop 👇🧵1/14
2/ The scoop:
Today @worldcoin announced their global launch, as well as the listing of their $WLD token across all major CEXs, including #Binance.
3/ What is it?
Worldcoin is building the world’s largest identity and financial network.
To do so, they are using blockchain technology and making it publicly owned.
Their products can be split into 3 categories: App, ID, Token.
4/ Who is behind it?
Worldcoin was co-founded by Sam Altman, one of the founders of @OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT.
They've raised $125M at a $3B valuation and have attracted investments from @a16z, Coinbase Ventures and everyone’s favorite @SBF_FTX.
5/ What is it used for?
Their first product is the World ID; a global digital passport that allows users to prove their identity and protect their privacy.
The idea is that you would connect your World ID to websites, apps and dApps, in lieu of a username / password.
6/ With the rise of AI, it's becoming increasingly harder to distinguish fiction from reality.
Through Proof of Personhood (PoP), @worldcoin aims to defend humanity from AI-generated misinformation, as well as reduce the likelihood of sybil attacks.
7/ How does it work?
First, you’ll need to download the World App; a non-custodial wallet compatible with crypto and fiat.
Users can send money worldwide at no cost and must download the app to claim their free $WLD tokens.
8/ What’s the catch?
While using the app doesn’t require a World ID, receiving free magic internet money does.
You’ll need to visit a Worldcoin Operator, who will authenticate your identity by scanning your eyes with an Orb.
9/ The orb uses machine learning to verify that your iris belongs to a human.
The data is then converted to an Iris Hash, encrypted with a private key, uploaded on-chain and deleted from the Orb.
The Orb's software is open source and available to anyone.
10/ Cool story bro… but what’s in it for me?
Free money of course!
Worldcoin is trojan-horsing its way into our lives by airdropping their $WLD token to anyone who volunteers their biometric data.
11/ Though it may not be enough to lure you or me, it's an enticing offer for those in less privileged conditions.
Worldcoin has been criticized for their launch methods conducted in developing countries.

12/ What happens next?
Worldcoin went live today, allowing anyone to book an appointment with a Worldcoin Operator.
At the moment, World App has reached over 2M users, however if the airdrop is significant, that number will grow exponentially.
13/ Conclusion
A global digital ID enabling private identity verification is undeniably revolutionary, however its certain to stir up controversy.
Is this something you see yourself embracing or are we headed towards a dystopian future?
