If you don't hear God and you'd genuinely want to, open this. Let's hear our Father:
The first thing to know is that hearing God isn't a big deal. This is what God Himself wants. He LOVES to lead you.
Now that we got that out of the way, this is the step-by-step on hearing the voice of God. The first thing to do is this:
Be in the Spirit. This is where God speaks. If you aren't in the Spirit, you won't hear God who speaks there.
Imagine your house. If your dad says something you will hear. But your brother far away at NYSC camp won't. Location
So how do you be in the Spirit? Be born again. Two:
Now that you are born the Holy Spirit through whom God does everything is in you now. Glory! There's a person living in you, God.
He's always speaking, but how come you don't hear Him? Well this is how:
Read the Bible. That's God's literal word. His voice in print:
When you read the Bible, you will start getting some insights from the words.
A voice like a thought inside you will start explaining it to you. It will be a distinct voice. In fact, you will think you're the one thinking to yourself.
That wisdom isn't from you, guess what?
It is from the Spirit of God in you. That's you hearing God!
You expect the voice of rushing waters. Well, that may come much later, but nothing is as powerful as God's still small voice.
When you read the Bible, the voice showing you wisdom from its pages, opening your eyes:
Then it takes you to the next phase: that voice begins to guide you.
You may want to get angry, then a scripture comes to your mind about how rage is a work of the flesh, then you refrain.
Well, you just heard God, and He directed you to show the fruit of self-control! More:
Maybe one day your laptop just crashed. You're sad. Then the scripture just pops up in your heart that "All things work together for good" for example.
Instantly peace comes upon you. Well, you just heard God in your Spirit man. Read your Bible daily.
Now unto the next level:
While the scripture is the basic way of hearing God and the ultimate judge of whether something is from God, you can go even higher.
You can start "knowing" how God feels about a thing or person. This is very important for you.
How do you know if a person is the right spouse?
Should you make that relocation? Should you invest in that business?
There's a way you can feel what the Holy Spirit, who knows all things, feels about that thing in your Spirit.
This is called discernment. And here's how to grow that one in your Christian life:
Devote yourself to God as an intercessor. An intercessor is someone who prays the will of God down to earth.
Instead of praying for your desires, start praying for the things God desires:
Souls in your neighborhood
Missionaries around the world
Your pastor and your church:
Families struggling financially in your church
The unity of the body of Christ in Nigeria
The spread of the gospel in Nigeria
etc.
God loves all these things. When you volunteer as an intercessor, God will start dropping things to pray about for Him in your heart:
We personally don't see any form of intimacy with God closer than this. How powerful it is when God is working closely with you!
He is always looking for people who would leave their concerns to pray about His.
Now this builds intense intimacy. You'll be able to "know" things:
Visions, revelations, secrets of things, events, and people will start coming to you by the Spirit because you have chosen to align with His will.
This is really powerful. This is the secret of many great ministers. They hear God because they are seeking His kingdom first:
When you become a devoted intercessor, God will almost be compelled to speak even clearer to you.
So you will start getting really clear instructions from God on things to do for Him. You'll start being led by God. What a joy!
Lastly. How do you intercede?
This is where the last step comes in: prayers. You will never hear God clearly and more naturally if you don't pray.
Pray in tongues especially. Read your bible then fire up in tongues daily. Jesus lived this way and He heard God too clearly and frequently. Finally:
Hearing God is very easy. You'll know because His sheep hear His voice.
If you don't know how to start with God, we made this for you.
