How my client John beat porn & social media doom scrolling, fixed his dopamine receptors & started a new publishing company
The exact process we followed to help him
- beat his addictions,
- heal his dopamine receptors
- train him for 4-5 hours focused work
Lets begin..
A few months ago John came to me with a problem,,
He'd just received a major work contract that would take his career to the next level..
More money, a chance for future contracts & an opportunity to start a media production company..
However,
John was in a fix.
John was unable to focus.
Procrastinating everyday, no drive to get anything done. Trapped in a vicious habit loop
Porn and social media scrolling being his major roadblocks.
This story will tell you his exact process of recovery.. with proof.
Read on
This entire thread is packed with information you can apply & see immediate change..
No fluff or bullshit.
The exact process we followed to help him beat his addictions, heal his dopamine receptors & train his focus to go on for 4-5 hours at a time
Lets begin.
You will find my explanation about why things worked for him and the thought process and scientific understanding behind it..
and also screenshots from John's testimonial for you to experience things from his perspective
Lets start with his life before the program :
1) Severe procrastination. Every single day. (Sign of prolactin buildup from porn / masturbation & low dopamine D2 receptors, high serotonin)
2) Porn & social media addictions
3) Intense cravings to browse social media and watch porn every day. (body is low on dopamine from overstimulation)
Especially mornings.
(Cortisol awakening response (CAR) raises cortisol early morning. High cortisol reduces your dopamine further giving you intense cravings)
4) Inability to break cycle & repeated relapse. (Primary drawback of relying on willpower without systems)
Without wasting any time we got to work.
My goal was to make sure he fixed his reward pathway & finds pleasure in doing meaningful work again
The first thing I wanted, was to break his negative momentum
So..
I asked him to pick one of the following and do it for one whole day :
Spend all day outdoors, praying, with family, sleeping or living his ideal day.
He chose to do a mix of all of them
He had hope
For the next few days we worked on his mindset for transformation.
I had him design a set of values for himself, create an ideal life for him, an unbreakable vow, a twin fork exercise & others.
Priming his mind for the change to come via calls.
Then came the real work
Identifying his triggers was our next step.
(Glutamate creates addiction memories that give you cravings when you encounter triggers) - This is why you want to watch porn or scroll when you lie in bed OR drink when it's dinner time
They're all chemically manufactured triggers
We made a detailed list of 6 controls,
1) Emotions / thoughts
2) Preceding events
3) Things / objects
4) Time of day
5) People
6) Location / context
Now we set about identifying patterns.
I wanted to eliminate all of them.
We did this by Creating systems based on our training protocols called IA systems that address every single trigger his brain has created for himself
Systems from behavior science, psychotherapy, cognition training, psychology & the works
Our goal was simple..
We had to make sure John knew exactly what to do every time he encountered any trigger he's listed out..
and we needed to practice this repeatedly to make it an automated response
But before implementing this, I needed John to learn how to be aware of his relapse response..
You've all felt this before,
That burst of craving and your body just moves on its own towards your drug.. as your mind makes up some bullshit excuse.
This happens when your mid-brain takes over control from your frontal cortex.
I wanted John to learn how to identify this..
SO that the next time it happened.. he could use what is called the Boyd's cycle (my account has a thread on this)
Training this concept was made part of Johns training regimen for a few weeks
Now he was ready to use the systems we designed
WHat next??
- Implementing systems and running iterations
- Fixing his morning, day & night time routines to ensure cortisol reduction and limiting blue light exposure
- Educating John on why his behavior patterns are what they are.. why his brain works how it does and so.
- Implementing changes into his life in gradual actionable steps to ensure they are sustainable.
- daily Progress updates and weekly zoom calls to ensure he is accountable and sticking to the program.
- Problem solving when he had issues like anhedonia & withdrawals etc
FYI, John is a graduate from my Phalanx transformation program

Now John was in much better shape. He knew how to maintain abstinence. He was able to quiet his mid brain dopamine cravings.
Next, we needed to bring his dopamine to baseline
How did we do this?
A series of lifestyle changes.
Workout, nutrition, sleep, stress reduction, sunlight, Meditation, hormesis with heat/ cold exposure, Frontal cortex training to improve willpower, Blue light control, Nature exposure, Social belonging to give him oxytocin, raised his serotonin dopamine levels
The whole package
Somewhere around the 2 month mark, it all started falling into place.
His cravings for porn went away, social media scrolling was non existent.. he could focus on work for extended periods & had completed his contract on time
By the end of 3 months..
Is no longer a slave to porn, social media or any dopamine addictions.
Able to focus 4+ hours at a time.
Completed his comic book contract and is building a media production company.
Better relationship with his family.
Strengthened his spiritual connection to god.
Wakes up everyday dedicated to his goals and mission.
Build a lifestyle and systems he can rely on to keep his habits in check - forever.
Now was this easy? John will tell you it wasn't. Hell no it's not.
But with the right guidance, systems and an experienced coach - YES.
This is what he has to say about his experience on the program :
If you're a working professional looking to,
< Build / break habits
< Brain chemistry healing
< Reversing effects of compulsive habits
< lifestyle optimization
< Sustainable life transformation
