Cold e-mails: Easy hacks (1)
We are currently at that time of the year when prospective graduate students send out emails to potential advisors, a process commonly known as cold emailing.
I will now explain the fundamental rules you should follow to craft effective cold emails:
1. Address your email to a single recipient, ensuring that each email is personalized for the intended advisor.
2. Avoid using the "cc" option at this stage.
3. Keep the subject field brief, descriptive, and captivating. For example, you can use phrases such as:
"Interest in joining your lab," "Inquiry about potential MS/Ph.D. supervision," "Interest in your research program," etc.
4. The body of your email should be easily readable at a quick glance without requiring excessive scrolling.
In the next tweet, I will share the essential paragraphs that your email should contain.
