The story starts in 1978 when Rajni Bector started an ice cream-making unit in her backyard with Rs 20000
In the 1980s India, there was one common thread that tied together most celebrations in Ludhiana - Mrs. Rajni Bector's famous Ice-Creams, Puddings, Cakes, Cookies

She was catering to 1000s of weddings in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Ambala, and even Delhi, Dehradun, and Saharanpur
Back then there were no caterers who could provide these items for weddings and parties

A woman running a business was not encouraged at all in Ludhiana in the late 70s
She was married at the age of 17 while still in her 2nd year of college
But nothing stopped her! She also got a lot of family Support.

They expanded quickly and in 1985 she invested Rs 50000 to set up a bread unit of 5000 loaves/day in Punjab followed up by an automated line for 50000 loaves/day in 1989
The Bector family’s century-old commodity business faced a massive setback in the 1990s due to riots

The family decided to wound up the business and focus on the baking business
By the 1990s, Mrs. Bector’s Cremica was a Rs. 5 crore business
Her sons joined the business and as soon as the family joined hands together, the business grew to Rs 20 Cr!

The Turning point came when they started supplying buns to McDonald’s along with ketchup, toppings, and other condiments
McDonald’s decided to enter India and was looking for a local supplier and they selected Mrs Bector

By 2006, the company’s top line was Rs. 100 Cr
Goldman Sachs bought 10% of the company for Rs. 50 Cr (Valuing it at 500 Cr, today valuation is 5000 Cr plus. In the latest Shareholding pattern, you can’t find GS name)

In FY12 sales crossed Rs 650 Cr, and In FY20 the sales crossed Rs 750 Cr
In FY23 their sales were 1362 Cr - Biscuit Segment 807 cr, Bakery segment 487 cr, 175 cr of EBITDA in FY23, 90 cr PAT in FY23

43 years later, Mrs. Bectors is India’s leading supplier of buns to QSR chains such as McD, BK, KFC, and Carl’s Jr
The company’s IPO in Dec 2020 was also subscribed 198 times on the final day
They are the second-largest exporter of biscuits in the global market
