Crypto is great cause you can actually be your own bank anonymously
But being your own bank also means you have to personally take security measures and 99%+ of you aren’t doing enough AT ALL
I’ve been talking about it for a while, here is my cyber security thread 🫡
Starting off, I know a lot of you, especially newbies, will call me paranoid
I know 3 people who got sim swapped for 7 figs
1 poker player who’s computer was taped to have constant views to his card and cheat him in games for 6 figs
I know >10 people who’ve been attacked…
This is a serious matter and it’s only going to grow because people aren’t being careful enough
Some of you keep private keys in notes or as pictures and get confused you when you lose all your money lol
1) VPN
Drop your nordvpn and all that trash, they store your data and have been hacked in the past resolving in huge data leaks
@mullvadnet is the best vpn in the world
It’s 5 bucks a month and you can pay with monero without ever having to give your email or anything
2) Internet
Don’t use free internet outside of your house EVER
Its the easiest attack vector just don’t
If you travel a lot, get a Netgear hotspot. It’s great, cheap and you can put an anonymous SIM card to get 5g anywhere it’s available
I have one and use it all the time
3) wallets
Go down the rabbit hole
Hardware wallets are overrated you need to make an account and post your data. Ask the ledger users how they feel receiving phishing scams on a daily basis
Paper wallets are great and they’re free, perfect for you cheap fucks
Multisig your cold wallets, use 3-5 wallets minimum 2 signatures
Learn how to use hot wallets properly, learn the different types of signatures and pop ups
Doing 2h of research could save you from losing your net worth, looking at you ape holders
4) Storing private keys/ seed phrase
I personally got 5 wallets, each use 24 words hence each got 12 words on one metal plate and 12 on another
I got two bank vaults, I keep the first part in one and the rest in the other
To access it you need access to both vaults, gl mate
Before you hit me with the its impractical, yes, of course it is
Its the point of a cold storage…
You’re not supposed to use it on a daily basis just like you don’t use your savings account on a daily basis
5) Counterparty risk
Never keep 100% of your stack on an exchange unless you can afford to lose it all
I got laughed at before ftx when I said this, now people are willing to listen lmfao
Most of you reading this need no more than 15% on the exchange
Leverage is awesome
Yes counterparty risk also works for defi
And if you still haven’t understood that after all that happened in 2023 I pray that you’re my counterparty
More Tips:
Unlock 2FA literally everywhere, don’t use the phone number one
Never unlock your phone while you’re charging on an outlet you don’t own
Use a password manager, @Yubico is great
Use @DuckDuckGo
Get a phone or computer for crypto only if you can afford it
Update your softwares frequently
Use burner email addresses for everything you do in crypto, @ProtonPrivacy is great even though people love to shit on it
Don’t open links or attachements from emails
Use ad blocker
Learn about PGP and encryption as a whole
I hope you found this somewhat useful and that you’ll try to better your security because at the end of the day that is the only goal of this very long thread lmao
I am no expert, I trade ponzis for a living, but I hard to learn and went deep down the rabbit hole
If somebody wants to add anything that I might have forgotten, that’s great! The goal is just to help each other
