Americans born after 1975-80ish generally have much less interesting and distinctive voices than Americans born before. Sudden sharp drop in regional accents, less variety in timbre, less unique mannerisms in speech and syntax, more nasally, more vocal fry, etc.
I think the explanation behind this is relatively simple: mass media proliferation, people in the last few decades have (again, GENERALLY) grown to spend more time consuming media and less time socializing with people around them
My only fervent βtradβ social belief is that people need to retvrn to finding interesting ways to speak. Unfortunately this is all likely going to get worse as generations raised on a diet of youtube and twitch grow up
