2- State your intention to pray (niyya).

The first takbir signals the beginning of the Janazah. The imam says âAllahu Akbarâ (âGod is greatâ), and the audience repeats this phrase. Before the first takbir, there is no adhan or iqama (the traditional calls to prayer). The Janazah starts immediately.

The imam then performs the second of four (4) takbirs. He once again says âAllahu Akbar,â and the audience follows his lead.
