Are Palestinians Amalek & is there a religious duty to kill them?🧵
Rabbi David Cohen:
“[It is a commandment] to annihilate the Seven Nations [and] not to spare a single person; to obliterate the memory of Amalek, to remember what Amalek did, [and] not to forget his evil deeds.
If they make [terms of] peace, accept the seven Noahide laws, and accept servitude, they are like the rest of the nations. And if they do not make [terms of] peace, wage war against the Seven Nations and Amalek, [and] do not spare a single person, [neither man, woman nor child].
It can be said that the Seven Nations are not necessarily [recognised] by their ancestry [or] race. […] Rather, those that reside in the [Holy] Land, claiming ownership of it, [are counted from among them]. And so, like them, Amalek is a notable adversary and enemy of Israel.”
Footnote by Rabbi Yosef ben Samuel Toledano:
“Our master intends that these days, perhaps it can be said that the people residing in the Land of Israel (i.e. the Palestinians) and demanding sovereignty over it fall under the category of the Seven Nations according to Jewish law.
The same holds true for Amalek: anyone in our times who oppresses the Jewish people, manifests clear enmity towards us, and seeks to annihilate us from the face of the earth, is subject to the law of Amalek, as defined by Jewish law.”
