Bayern Munich has laid out an ambitious strategy to prevent FC Barcelona from acquiring Florian Wirtz. Barcelona consider the 20-year-old both an immediate asset and a future prospect for the Catalan club.
Barcelona's sports management is closely monitoring the performances of the German international. However, it's no secret that Barcelona's current financial constraints make signing Wirtz an exceedingly challenging endeavor.
Wirtz is under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2027, and though there's no release clause in his contract, the starting price to sign him is estimated to be around 100 million euros.
Bayern Munich, renowned for its attention to local talent, is also keenly observing Wirtz. According to 'Bild,' the Bavarian team has formulated an ambitious plan to make him one of their cornerstones.
Bayern's strategy revolves around pairing Wirtz with his compatriot Jamal Musiala, creating a formidable duo, as evidenced by their performances with the German national team. This partnership aims to secure two top-tier players for the next decade.
While Wirtz's future remains uncertain, he is making a significant impact in the early part of the season at Bayer Leverkusen, under Xabi Alonso. He has already notched three goals and four assists in the 10 games he has participated in across the Bundesliga, Cup, and Europa.
