/n This is going to be a long thread again. I have seen lot of immature and ill informed opinion on Jew-Islam conflict in Israel- Palestine region. For this we need to understand various incidents in mythology and history. I will start explaining it from birth of Prophet Abraham
/n Abraham or Ibrahim is considered to be patriarch of all Abrahamic religions , ie, zews, Christianity and Islam. Abraham was the reformer who gave a one god philosophy in then Arab region. Many tribes at that time believed in multiple god philosophy.
/n He countered them and propagated monotheism and opposed idol worship. He was very successful in doing so. He used different tactics to do this which included armed struggle as well. Abraham first son was Ismail. He is also considered as prophet.
/n While Ismail was a child, he was crying of thirst. Her mother ran amok in search of water in desert. She ran seven rounds between hills of Safa and Marwa to find water. At the end of 7 rounds, Angel Gabriel or Jibrael appeared and kicked on ground to make water appear 4m gnd.
/n That well of water was used by Ismail’s mother to quench his thirst. That is genesis of 7 rounds of Safa and Marwa hills during Haj by Muslims and ZamZam well in Mecca. Time passed by and Ismail was growing up. It was believed that God gave directions..
/n .. to Ibrahim in dream. One day God directed Ibrahim to sacrifice his most precious thing. He woke up and decided to sacrifice his son Ismail as he was his most precious thing. While he tried to cut his head using a dagger, the dagger couldn’t cut through.
/n After seeing this, an angel of god appeared and stopped Ibrahim 4m sacrificing his son, instead a sheep was sacrificed as a in lieu of sacrifice of son. This is genesis of Bakrid. God blessed Ibrahim with a second child after seeing his devotion. He was named Issac.
/n Now Issac had a son named Jacob. He was famous orator and preacher. He later came to be known as Israel. He had 12 sons who later came to be known as 12 tribes of Israel. Out of 12 sons, the most famous was Zudah, who is considered patriarch of a Zudaism.
/n Now these 12 tribes of Israel shifted to Egypt because of severe draught. In Egypt Israelites we’re treated as refugees and slaves. They were called Hebrews in Egypt. One day king of Egypt ordered massacre of all male population of Jews cauz of rising population.
/n One of the Jew child was saved somehow and this child was adopted by royal family. His name was Moses. While he grew up, he saw poor plight of Jew people. He became angry and killed one of the slave lords. He ran after that to avoid discovery of his identity.
/n He crossed Red Sea and reached Mt Horeb(Mt Sinai). There, one angel of god appeared and told him not to run but to go back and rescue all Israelites of Egypt. He went back to King of Egypt and told him that God(Yahweh) angel has told him to save Israelites.
/n King didn’t agree at first but many plagues hit Egypt which was thought as anger of Yahweh. After plagues king allowed The move of Israelites. Moses led all the Israelites from Egypt to Mt Sinai. Moses bisected the sea by his power and took all the Israelites 4m that.
/n Later Moses upon revelation from God wrote 10 commandments of God. Moses died on Mt Nebo and while dying he pointed towards promised land, A land that was promised to Israelites by God.
/n Then came time of Kingdom of Israel, around 1000 BC. King Saul, David and Solomon were famous kings of this kingdom. Solomon build a temple for Israelites known as First Temple of Jerusalem also known as 1st Temple Mount. This temple consisted of 10 commandments written..
/n ..on a plate , kept in a wooden box. The place where it was kept was also known as ‘Holy of the holies’. It was a holiest place for Israelites.
/n. Around 586 BC , Babylonians attacked and destroyed above mentioned temple, did genocide of Jews and Jews were exiled to all over the world. First Jews came to India during this period only.
/n. Around 540 BC Persians attacked the King Cyrus took over Jerusalem. He allowed Jews to make the destroyed temple again. The 2nd Temple was build around 516 BC on same site. This time was a reprieve for Jews as the worst attack was yet to come.
/n.Around 63 BC , Jews were annihilated again by Roman attack.Rome conquered Jerusalem and Pompus Magnus became the King. Internal rivalry in Rome led to Julius Caesar becoming King around 50 BC. He legalised Judaism. After that Judah kingdom was ruled under the aegis of Rome.
/n King Herod became the King of Jews. He rebuild Temple Mount, refurbished 2nd temple and built Cave of Patriarchs in Hebron. This place was memorial of Prophet Ibrahim and his family. Herod ruled till 4 BC and was succeeded by his son.
/n. Now came the era of start of Christianity. A jew named Issa was born in Bethlehem in Herod Kingdom. When Issa was 12 , he went to see Temple Mount. He later migrated to Najareth. He was a miracle person and a wonderful orator. He called himself Rabbi which means holy zew.
/n Issa came to Jerusalem 7 -8 days before his death. People celebrated his arrival. He went to the Temple Mount which was in a bad state. He cleaned the temple, removed animals and businesses men. This irked High priest of temple.
/n. High priest and company did politics and started to demand Issa death. On Thursday night Issa had his last suppper on Mt Zion. Issa was arrested by temple guards after this supper. The Jew court consisted of 71 priest and high priest sentenced him to death for sedition.
/n. But death sentence reqd approval of Roman governor. Governor has to bow down to priests. He denied two charges against Issa and told sedition can’t be proved, but public sentiments led to him sentencing Issa to death. He also told I don’t want to but in pressure I did this.
/n .Issa was crucified and death sentence was carried out on Friday. Good Friday is observed on this day only. That is why you don’t wish Happy Good Friday. This incident led to inherent enmity between Christians and Jews. Christians held Jews responsible for Christ’s death.
/n. Issa or Christ resurrected on Sunday, the day when Easter is celebrated. He stayed for 40 days and gave Gospel to society. Gospel is most important part of New Testament. After 40 days he went to heaven and sat beside God as he was God’s son.
/n Christianity has a concept of atonement. It means Jesus will come back again at Jerusalem. Church of Nativity in Bethlehem was where Jesus was born. It’s in Palestine. Nazareth is where he lived and preached. It’s in Israel. Mt Zion(Last Supper) is in Jerusalem.
/n . Church of Holy Sepulchre where Christ was crucified is in Jerusalem. This explains Jew and Christians eternal enmity and importance of Jerusalem in Christianity. This enmity led to annihilation of Jews once again.
/n. At that time many Jews thought Jesus was wronged. They were called Jewish Christians. 70 to 135 AD was time of a time of wars between Roman and Jews. In 70 AD , Titus a Roman commander destroyed second temple of Jews ,Temple Mount and Jerusalem.
/n In 135 AD Roman expelled and defeated Jews and Jews took refuge all over the world. They were yet again driven out of their home. Then Romans gave a new name to this place, ‘’ Palestine’’.
/n. Constantine became King of Rome in 306 AD. He accepted and propagated Christianity. He developed Jerusalem as a Christian centre. He built Church of the Holy Sepulchre there. He also persecuted Jews and sold them as slaves cauz of enmity and anger of Christians.
/n. In 380 AD Rome became a Christian state. Persecution of Jews increased. In 395 AD , Eastern Roman King took over empire and established Byzantine Empire. They banned Jews from Jerusalem and persecution continued. This situation remained the same till 638 AD.
/n. What happened in 638 Ad? To understand this we have to understand Emergence of Islam. Prophet Mohammad was born in Mecca in 570 AD. His father passed away in his childhood. His childhood was very difficult. He used to go to Hira caves for solitude.
/n . Prophet got his first revelation in 610 AD by Angel zibrail (Gabriel). He got revelation on 21st day of month. This is celebrated at Ramazan month in Islam. He kept getting revelation from god till his death in 632 AD. Collection of this revelation is called Quran.
/n. Law in Islam is called Shariya. First part of sharia is Quran.second source is Hadith. This is interpreted by Prophet Md talks and behaviour by his followers. He started preaching in 613 AD. He started propagation of Islam.
/n. Mohammad passed away in 632 AD. Before his death, one day Mohammad told his friend that he did a night journey in 621 AD. He traveled on Buraq(a winged horse) given to him by Zibrail. Two parts of his travel was Isra and Miraj.
/n. Isra means P Md journey 4m macca to farthest mosque(Al Aksa mosque in Jerusalem). It is there in front of Temple Mount. He offered namaz in Al Aksa. In Miraj, he went to heaven, talked to god and other prophets and returned to Mecca.
/n. Prayers in Islam till 621 AD was towards Jerusalem. Later it was changed towards Kaba. This reiterates importance of Jerusalem in Islam. Erstwhile Temple Mount and place of 1st and 2nd Temple currently has 3 major things Dome of the Rock, Dome of the chain and Al Aqsa.
/n. So the Temple Mount of Jews was converted to holy place in Islam. Some of the rock contains a rock stepping upon which Burrak and Md went to heaven. Dead in Islam is buried. It is believed that during क़यामत all deads will be alive and their deeds will be judged here.
/n. Those who will cross the chain will go to heaven. Jews believe that Dome of Chain King Solomon used to sit and give judgement. Western wall of this compound was where Jew temples were there. Jews prays outside the western wall. Islam say it’s Burraq Wall.
/n. After the death of Prophet Md, Islam expanded very fast. Second Khalifa of Islam Umar defeated Byzantine empire and conquered Jerusalem in 638 AD. Umar prayed on Temple Mount or Haram al Sharif as called in Islam.
/n .Now the interesting part is that Umar allowed Jews to return to Jerusalem. From this time till 1099 AD , Jews lived peacefully with Muslims. In 1099, crusade happened and Christians annihilated Jews once again. This was 3rd massacre of Jews in Jerusalem.
/n. Islam rulers again came back in 1189 and Jews were at peace. Ottoman Empire came into being in 13th century and Ottomans rebuilt Jerusalem. They ensured peace in Jerusalem and built Jerusalem into 4 quarters. (Which exists until now.
/n. Muslims and Jews always lived peacefully and with respect towards each other till Ottoman Empire was there.
/n. Jews were massacred by Babylonians, Egyptians, Romans, Christians(again and again) . Their holy temple was broken again and again. Intertwined faith led to loss of their temple mound. But what happened between Muslims and Jews?( Will write a thread on this again)
