🧵 Thread: Zionism and it’s atrocities.
Zionism is a movement founded by Theodor Herzl in 1896 whose goal is the return of Jews to the Land of Israel.
leading up to 1948, the Zionist movement actively encouraged and facilitated Jewish immigration to Palestine, which was already home to indigenous Palestinian Arab communities. This illegal migration contributed to increasing tensions between Jewish and Arab populations.
Pre-State Era: Prior to the establishment of Israel in 1948, there were many instances of violence and displacement involving Zionist groups.
Terrorist militant Zionist organizations, such as the Irgun and Lehi, carried out attacks against British authorities and Palestinians civilians, resulting in mass casualties, property loss, and destruction.
Nakba: The 1948 Arab-Israeli War, following Israel's self declaration of independence, led to the brutal displacement of 700,000+ Palestinians.
This event, known as the Nakba (Catastrophe), involved forced evictions, massacres, mutilation of pregnant women and babies, and the destruction of Palestinian villages.
Occupation of Palestinian Territories: Following the Six-Day War in 1967, Israel illegally occupies the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.
The illegal Israeli occupation government's policies, including the establishment of settlements, restrictions on Palestinian movement, and the construction of the separation barrier, have been widely criticized for their impact on Palestinian lives and human rights.
Conflict and Wars: The illegal Israeli occupation has witnessed numerous wars and military operations, resulting in significant suffering and loss of life of Palestinians.
Civilian casualties, destruction of infrastructure, and human rights abuses have been reported throughout these conflicts.
Open Air Prison: Since 2007, Israel occupation has imposed a blockade on the Gaza Strip, severely restricting the movement of goods and people. This has led to a humanitarian crisis, with limited access to essential resources, high unemployment rates, and inadequate healthcare.
Illegal Settlement Expansion: The continued expansion of illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied territories has been a major point of contention.
The construction of settlements on Palestinian land is considered illegal under international law and has been a significant obstacle to peace negotiations.
Treatment of Palestinians: Palestinians living under illegal Israeli control face daily discriminatory policies, unequal access to resources, and limitations on their basic rights.
These issues include kidnapping, checkpoints, home demolitions, land confiscation, and the denial of building permits.
To conclude, The Israeli occupation of Palestinians has been ongoing for over 70 years and has been widely criticized by the international community. The current situation will continue to escalate if measures are not taken to address the underlying issues and tensions.
