India maintains two stations in Antarctica, Mytri and Bharati. There are two ways one can reach there , ship or flights.
I did my Antarctica expedition from representing ISRO in 38th Indian expedition.
This is a thread , showing how India flies to Antarctica
๐Ÿงต (1/n)
So the closest airport to our stations in Capetown and many countries coordinate together on a single flight to a common ice - runway maintained by organisation called ALCI.
For our expedition , we got a brand new Boeing Commercial
(2/n)
Once we are in the zone of icy cold latitudes , we see ice bergs floating in the ocean and can hardly resist jumping from the plane โœˆ๏ธ
(3/n)
Because of the temperatures our windows also start coagulating perfect ice crystals , telling us , we are very close to touch down on the biggest desert on Earth.
(4/n)
The expeditioners from all countries are again read their terms and Antarctic treaty and get into their Snow attires , with sun protection and other guard while ten minutes away from touch down
(5/n)
And once we see the Ice clad runway and the touch down , all we can do is , keep looking at the beautiful continent. (6/n)
The next in thread is what makes India proud dont miss it ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป
There on the runway , Indian vehicles will be waiting for you , to take to the stations with India flags on rocks.
Thatโ€™s the goosebumps moment, India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ is the best country to be representing for.
