I spoke with Prime Minister @Netanyahu today. I reiterated Canada’s support for Israel and its right to defend itself, in accordance with international law. We also spoke about the need for Hamas to immediately and unconditionally release those being held hostage.
I reaffirmed the importance of upholding international humanitarian law and making every effort to protect Palestinian civilians. I expressed my deep concerns with the dire humanitarian crisis, and spoke about the need to create conditions for necessary aid to flow into Gaza.
