The journey took a horrifying turn when the train reached outer Delhi. Delhi was ablaze, with trucks on fire and buildings shrouded in smoke. On reaching New Delhi Railway Station, we found injured Sikhs on the platform, abandoned and desperate for help.

Despite our attempts to assist the injured, our train was hastily moved out of the station. Near Nizammudin Railway Station, an unruly mob halted our train, attacking Sikh passengers. We, young army officers, intervened, donning our uniforms to shield fellow Sikhs.

The situation worsened as rioters stormed our compartment near the Okhla slums. We pleaded for Captain Gill's life, but he was fatally stabbed. Sahota from GREF wasn't spared either. Amidst chaos, we managed to save some, demonstrating bravery amidst adversity.

Desperation gripped us as we sought help from railway authorities, but we were met with apathy. A TTE even signaled rioters, revealing Sikhs' hiding spots. Two officers, Yadav & AP Singh, displayed exceptional courage, firing shots that forced the mob to retreat.
