If we go by contemporary sources u won't be able to prove the existence of Pythagoras either. There are many schools of thought that he didn't exist.
But the philosophy and discipline that generation after followed as Pythagorean school of thought is exactly what brahminism is. The theorem he gave is a copy of sulbashutra that existed much prior to Pythagoras.
