JSW invested 210 crores to create a children’s museum in Mumbai which opened just last week!
What’s so special about this place?🧵👇🏾
This place was built with the intention that children need a space that is dedicated for them to immerse themselves creatively and for them to become active members for change in the world rather than passive recipients of information!
This is their thought process👇🏾
The purpose can be divided into the following 3 categories:
How do they inspire?
The main part of this category is various immersive exhibitions which will allow children to understand their environment in a fun and interactive way!
The themes for the content of this museum are inspired by the SDGs!
The next tweet has an example!👇🏾
There’s an interactive mangrove tunnel where all the creatures living there will talk about their role in the ecosystem. This can be experienced through an audio-visual aid.
Through this experience, children would understand the importance of preserving various life forms.
How do they enable?
There are sparks, challenges and problem statements that children can play around with to find solutions for. The problem statements are inspired from the real world and are real problems that people face.
One example of a problem statement is the inaccessibility of parks for people with a disability. How can this be solved.
This the outline that they follow👇🏾
How do they empower?
There will be workshops, meetings, interactions where children can share their ideas and opinions to a larger group of people. This will in effect show them the power that their ideas hold.
One more super interesting thing about this place is that they have a panel of children who can voice their opinions about the future of this museum and share their ideas on what changes can be brought here and give feedback on the content of this museum!
