Hard pill to swallow:
However much you succeed in business, you won't be happy till you prioritize yourself.
Here’s how I built my company to $8.7M/year while traveling the world and focusing on my health:
Let me set the scene.
Right now, the two companies I own make me $8.7 million a year - all while I travel the world and live a meaningful life
But 10 years ago? I was stressed, a slave to substance abuse and suicidal.
How did I turn things around?
Prioritized My Health
After my first two companies, I was burned out and regularly used alcohol to cope.
Things needed to change - so I downloaded an app called Streaks to ensure I wrote, read and exercised daily.
The newfound clarity and energy let me find my calling.
Completed My Ikigai
This was the most profound exercise I've ever done - I realized:
• I loved helping founders build systems
• I'm great at building community
• My work could help the world
The intersection of these factors became Founder OS.
Focused on Adding Massive Value
Once I realized money (after a certain point) is a vanity metric, I got clear on my calling in life:
Helping 100 million founders accomplish their dreams.
This mission, alone, is never-ending fuel for my fire.
Everyday Retirement.
“Retirement is when you stop sacrificing today for an imaginary tomorrow.” — Naval
I found freedom by creating systems, eliminating the unessential, taking care of my health, and delegating to weapons.
Now conventional retirement is my worst nightmare.
Set My Audience on Fire
I had founders asking me (and willing to pay) for help with their business.
So I started sharing basic stuff from my journal online.
Result? Over the last 18 months, I've grown an audience of 1.8M.
What's second nature to you is gold dust to the next.
In its first year, Founder OS crossed $264k in monthly revenue.
It still blows my mind that all this is while I'm living my dream.
If you take away one thing, it should be this:
Hustle culture lies to you. You NEVER have to trade your health and happiness for success.
