Lisandro Martinez:
β€œI am in the process of recovery. It is the 'π’πžπœπ¨π§π' time that an injury like this has happened to me.” [TNT]
Why did it reoccur though?
β€’Short thread of observation🧡
(⚠️ I'm not an expert in the field so take it with a pinch of salt.)
It was widely reported he sustained a fractured metatarsal after the Sevilla game last season.
Acute metatarsal fracture;
-'can be caused by direct injury to the foot. This may happen for eg, through someone stepping on or kicking the foot, by dropping something on to the foot or by falling on to the foot.'
-(indirect) 'Twisting of the foot or the ankle can also cause fractures of the base of the fifth metatarsal. In this injury, the twisting mechanism pulls on a strong ligament that attaches to the base of the fifth metatarsal which then pulls off a fragment of bone.'
Here's how his injury panned out:
'Indirect acute metatarsal injury occurs when the leg & hindfoot are twisted with the forefoot fixed.
stress fracture is a small crack in a bone, or severe bruising within a bone.'
Lisandro Martinez has a tendency to entice opposition pressure & evade it relying on a mechanism that puts heavy pressure on his pivot foot planted for a while before he changes direction capitalizing on going against their momentum.
His ball manipulation/dribbling technique might have already done damage gradually with his repetitive stressful actions on his pivot foot and it might not be sustainable as it happened during his injury too with the twist & poor landing.
