So I've seen this drug being taken a lot by Elderly and a few young people.
Seen it kill 2 people and thought to talk about it after going through research & reviews.
The Drug which is a fast seller 'ADIMEMU'.
So the name ADIMENU is a Yoruba word meaning Hold under the tongue.
So people take the drug, put it under their tongue or just leave it in the mouth to dissolve.
So I decided to do a quick research and read about what exactly it is.
How did it find its way into households.
First person that took it was Hypertensive, Blood pressure went up, he had a Stroke..died in a Hospital.
Second person was addicted to it for some reasons could not stop, also suffered some complications that led to death.
I found a research online that analyzed ADIMENU
So the ADIMENU was a combo of
- Tobacco
- Ginger
-Xylopia aethiopica
Plant
-Tetrapleura tetraptera
Water
These appear to be plant based but how does it get dangerous
The researchers carried out a research using these ADIMENU on Plants and noticed that due to toxic level of Mutagens the drug contained. It stopped growth.
It also affected cell division. Attached here is the graph
Also they noted that ADIMENU had some effect on division of cells which means it has a high potential to initiate CANCER.
Could it have been a coincidence that someone had a stroke and another person had Organ damages
Studies have shown that Smokeless Tobacco increases stroke
Back to the research which was carried out at a Federal University in Gombe
It suggested that ADIMENU should be classified as a Hard drug.
ADIMENU is still sold today and people are still using it.
Perhaps @NafdacAgency needs to weigh in.
I tried getting a picture of the bottle of the drug...but this was what I found online.
If you say ADIMENU...It is a popular drug amongst the locals and a lot of people.
