|| Role of Bhagawan Shiva's Damaru And Trishul In Creation And Destruction Explained ||
Bhagawan Shiva is often described as a cosmic dancer and a great musician. Bhagawan Shiva's Tandava is the cosmic dance and his Damaru is a small hourglass shape drum which represent the cosmic sound.
It is said in Shiva Mahapurana that the sounds from the damaru beats is the rhythm of the cosmic vibrations and the energy is activated by the divine Mother or Shakti.
The damru is also a symbol of sound. Sound is a rhythm & a form of energy. The whole universe is nothing but a wave function, it is nothing but rhythms. Quantum physics also says the same thing – the whole universe is nothing but rhythms. It is also mentioned in Bramha puran that Bhagawan Shiva is responsible for any kind of vibrations across the universe.
Damaru symbolizes the universe which is always expanding and collapsing which is also accepted by the modern scientists.
The damru is tied on the trishul (trident) of Bhagawan Shiva. People believe that the TRISHUL is the weapon of Bhagawan Shiva, but that's not true. It Is far more than that.
Trishul represents the three aspects of consciousness – . Holding a trishul (Trident) signifies that Bhagawan Shiva (the divinity) is above all the 3 states – waking, dreaming and sleeping, yet is the upholder of these 3 states. The divinity is beyond the 3 gunas, but a trishul holds the three gunas together.
Shul means problems or suffering. Hence, trishul also means that which destroys all 3 kind of sufferings. Three types of suffering that arise in life are:
1. Aadibhautik (physical)
2. Aadhyaatmik (spiritual) and
3. Aadidaivik (ethereal)
What relieves you from all the problems and suffering is the trishul. And it is in the hand of Bhagawan Shiva.
Some also believe that it also represents the trinity – brahma , Vishnu , Mahesh ; Sarasvati , Lakshami and Kaali, 3 modes of nature --creation, maintenance and destruction, the three kaala- past, present and future, 3 lokas—dev , bhu and patal ; 3 powers-will , action and wisdom ; 3 types of miseries –physical, mental and spiritual.
Bhagawan Shiva is known as the the destroyer of everything including the entire universe during the time of pralay and he hold both damaru- the cause of creation and trishul- the cause of destruction.
