Since Phil Foden graduated from City’s academy, it has continued to produce a number of top class talents from the local area.
Here’s a focus on a few of those lads, all born or brought up in Greater Manchester 1/
Lukas Nmecha - Wythenshawe
Wolfsburg striker and a full German international.
Spotted by City playing for his school team in Wythenshawe at 9yrs old following his families move over from Germany when he was 8

Felix Nmecha - Wythenshawe
Lukas’ younger brother who now plays for Dortmund and made his international debut for Germany last year. Joined his older brother at City’s academy aged 8

Cole Palmer - Wythenshawe
Signed for City’s under 9s after being scouted playing for local side NJ Wythenshawe.
Currently on track to be Chlesea’s player of the year. Won the U21s European Championships with England last summer. Now a full international 4/
James McAtee - Salford
Playing at City since 10yrs old, the ‘Salford Silva’ is an England U21 international and currently on loan at Sheffield United, having helped them to promotion to the Premier League last season 5/
Taylor Harwood-Bellis - Stockport
Playing at City since 6yrs of age, he Captained England U21s to the European Championships title last summer. Won promotion on loan at Burnley last season and is currently leading Southampton’s promotion push this year 6/
Tommy Doyle - Manchester
Destined to play for City, his grandfathers being legends Glyn Pardoe and Mike Doyle.
He won the European Championships with England u21s in the summer and promotion with Sheffield United last season. Currently on loan at Wolves 7/
Callum Doyle - Salford
After a season with Liverpool (‘it wasn’t really for me’) Doyle signed for City’s under 12s team.
An England u21 interanational, he’s currently on loan at Leicester after successful loan spells at Sunderland and Coventry 8/
Shea Charles - Manchester
Joined City at 7yrs old, Charles went through all the age groups before moving to Southampton last summer. Qualifying for Northern Ireland through his mother, he already has 13 caps at senior level 9/
Jeremie Frimpong - Clayton
Born in Amsterdam, Frimpong’s family moved to Manchester when he was 6. He was scouted playing for a local club and joined City’s under 9s team. Now a Dutch international and key player for Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen 10/
Rico Lewis - Radcliffe
Joined the academy at 8yrs old. Made his first team debut at 17. Made his senior debut for England at 18. Treble winner. Radcliffe’s answer to Philipp Lahm 11/
Jack & Tyler Fletcher - Bowden
Twin sons of ex United player Darren. The twins joined City aged 7 and left for a combined fee of £1.25m in the summer. Mentioned here because it’s objectively hilarious that United’s Technical Director chose that path for his sons 12/
Micah Hamilton - Crumpsall
Signed for City aged 8. After losing most of last season to ankle injury issues, he is back with a bang this campaign. He made a scoring debut in the Champions League away at Red Star Belgrade 13/
