He found the obesity cure during the Civil War.
The secret was helping his soldiers improve their digestion through a carnivore diet.

Dr. James Salisbury was a physician.
During the Civil War, his soldiers suffered from a plethora of diseases:
- Fevers
- Diarrhea
- Pneumonia
He was convinced that they were all caused by what a person ate, and could be reversed with diet.
And his intuition was right.
Salisbury gave his soldiers different remedies.
But what he discovered was that a diet full of animal meat (specifically beef) was the key to fixing their persisting health problems.
This meant getting rid of grains, starches, and vegetables.
Vegetables and starches he considered poisonous.
Both have slow motility and can cause someone with an already impaired gut to suffer from overgrowths and bacterial infections.
These are the foods he replaced them with ⬇️
Daily Protocol:
- 3-5 pints of warm water
- A few cups of black coffee
- 2-4 pounds of chopped meat
He focused on getting rid of diarrhea and anything that would impair a person's digestion. (carbohydrates)
Poultry was allowed for meat.
But he recommended simple minced beef formed into a patty and then boiled, as he considered it the best for easy digestion.
Similar to the modern carnivore diets.
He also recommended drinking the warm water slowly.
It can be very helpful for calming the nervous system and improving digestion and you can add ginger, lemon juice, sage, or salt to enhance the flavor.
He prescribed the Salisbury Diet to both men and women and found remarkable results for both sexes in relief from their symptoms, and overall weight loss.
It was known to make women more pretty.
As we now know, the connection between the gut and the brain is huge.
The gut is known as the second brain and if you have poor digestion and an inflamed gut then your brain will also be inflamed.
Fix your gut, and you fix your health.
What was called a "fad diet", we now know has proven INCREDIBLE results for patients.
Want to lose weight? Eat more meat.
Dr. Salisbury's diet is more than 100 years old.
But thanks to people like @SBakerMD we are starting to learn the real truth about a diet heavy in grass-fed red meat.
