Islam is a competing universalism against Christian universalism. In the same way Christianity interprets the whole of History leading up to the sacrifice of the Messiah - Islam upholds a COMPETING claim that all of History is the History of Submission to God.
Christianity understands many of the Old Testament verses as prophecising the crucification and trinity. However, because the sons of Israel - which were the ones who received Revelation - did NOT interpret it as such, the door is open.
The methodology of this thread is to first present all of the evidence Muslims and Christians contest over and finally present the complete interpretation and solution.
On the verse of the powers in heaven - the Jewish understanding is very clear: the Angel in heaven can NOT forgive your sins (Exodus 23:21) and has no independant power.
Now, the main questions Christians have with regards to Islam is: why would a new Covenant be needed 600 years after the Messiah? Well, the answer is given both in the Old Testament and the New Testament: to complete Revelation.
As the Messiah said, people will come after him that will worship the words of men, not God:
"But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." Matthew 15:9
"But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." Matthew 15:9
All of the above verses are interpreted by Christians as meaning either: the Church or the Holy Spirit. But there is another interpretation. An interpretation that completes the Prophetic line of Abraham and God's Rule.
Indeed, if we look at the Old Testament, we see that God has blessed the nation of Ismael and promised for it to be a "great nation" who's "hand will be above all others" (Genesis 17:20 and 20:16). The nation of Ismael are none other than the Arabs.
The Blessed Abraham had two sons: Prophet Isaac and Prophet Ismael. The whole line of Revelation followed Isaac up until the Messiah Jesus. The Ismaelites are the only "other nation" that are also blessed by God. Let us continue for now.
Finally, the two Prophecies which Muslims and Christians compete over are the prophecies about the "Prophet like Moses" and the Prophet of Isaiah 42. Christians will interpret both prophecies as explaining what Jesus the Messiah WILL do in his second coming.
From these verses we conclude that the prophet in this prophecy must have the following three characteristics:
1)ย That he will be like Moses.
2)ย That he will come from the brothers of the Israelites.
3)ย That God will put His words in to the mouth of this prophet.
1)ย That he will be like Moses.
2)ย That he will come from the brothers of the Israelites.
3)ย That God will put His words in to the mouth of this prophet.
Now I have presented all of the evidence. I will now tie all of this up together with the Islamic interpretation.
The story goes like this: God has started the Patriarchal line of Revelation with Abraham. His two sons were promised to be blessed and become great.
The story goes like this: God has started the Patriarchal line of Revelation with Abraham. His two sons were promised to be blessed and become great.
The Isaacian line had the whole offspring of Prophethood directed to the sons of Israel. The Ishmaelian line was occulted, with no Revelation.
The Messiah then comes and reveals to the Jews that they have deviated. He rectifies their errors and prophecises the Kingdom of God.
The Messiah then comes and reveals to the Jews that they have deviated. He rectifies their errors and prophecises the Kingdom of God.
A final Revelation that will rectify all things and glorify the line of Isaac along with the Messiah Jesus through a nation outside it. This Revelation will come through the Comforter (Holy Spirit sent to the Blessed Prophet) and teach men all things.
Through a Prophet that was awaited by the Jews that were with the Messiah (John 1:21). A Prophet that speaks the word of God for he does not speak of himself (Quran 53:3). A Revelation that will make Ismael's nation great and above all others - but also at war.
A Revelation that completes the triad of Sinai, Seir and Paran in Arabia through a Prophet like Moses that establishes a Law of God (Shari'a) aided by 10 000 Saints. A Prophet that will wage war for the sake of God and establish the Kingdom of God (Caliphate).
A Prophet that will bless the lands of Qedar, second son of Ismael who lived in Arabia, and make the people of Sela sing (the song of Medina). A light for the Gentiles sent to the whole world, not only the lost sheep of Israel. He will establish Justice and triumph.
He is the chosen and Blessed Prophet of God - Mohammad. The religion is One: Submission to God (Islam). While Judaism and Christianity await the return of the Messiah, Islam looks towards to future. It knows that it will end the world by its own hands.
It surpasses the subsumption of religion under the state and the issues of Christian schisms by founding a Dawla on absolute zero (the desert). It establishes the Brotherhood of Man and considers itself as active eschatology.
