💎 Chip Strategy - Code Cracked?
Below is an invaluable image.
Now, whilst none of this is set in stone, and things are somewhat likely to change (upset in a cup tie), it’s a very good base from which to plan off.
What does it tell us?
Well it tells us many, many things.
However, the most important things being:
That DGW37 is looking spicy to say the least.
That B/DGW34 is likely to be optimised through the usage of a FH.
That BGW29 is going to force you to plan extremely well, and have a predetermined strategy.
That DGW28 can’t be accounted for properly without looking at BOTH BGW26 & BGW29.
And, that TC25 looks like a nice play.
Thank you to @PlanetFPLPod and @fplteam_ for the graphic.
Make sure to follow them.
Thus, what generally seems to be the best option, is:
TC 25
WC 30-31 (Leaning to the latter)
FH 34
BB 37
But you’ve already heard everything about that.
SO, is there another (potentially better) solution?
Yes.
I would like to place significant emphasis on the word POTENTIALLY, because this VERY team dependent.
So here’s the plan:
GW28 - WC
(Prefer it to GW27 because you can have double/triple Arsenal against Sheffield Utd)
GW29 - 10 players
(It’s much more difficult with 11 players and it’s really not a big deal when you see who you’re missing out on)
GW30 - 2 FT’s to start restructuring
GW34 - Free Hit
GW36 - 6 doublers (maximum)
GW37 - 15x DGW assets with a BB😍
The WC team:
5x DGW assets in 28.
10x BGW assets in 29 (don’t understand why having 11 is so important when you look at the fixtures).
Already ensures you have TOT & CHE covered for DGW36 & 37 (Adebayo becomes Nkunku in 30)
Pinnock to Botman in 30.
Haaland in for Watkins in 31 (& Salah if you wish for a -4 in place of Kudus)
BB37 Team:
Only one hit taken in this entire time.
Naturally I’ve planned to DGW37 which is ages away and things are very likely to change.
But, it’s just to show you that it is indeed possible.
And, if you need to take one hit then so be it.
Of course it has its’ downsides, but so does every strategy.
💎 Everything DGW25
This section will be an assessment of all the popular assets who have a DGW in 25 (you can find Luton’s players in the next section).
Trent
VVD
Nunez
Jota
(Salah)
Toney
Haaland
De Bruyne
Foden
Walker
I’m still fairly set on the fact that Salah doesn’t start the second game, which makes Jota a very viable option.
Nunez as I’ve expressed I believe to be one of the most underrated assets in the game.
I much prefer VVD to TAA for the money saved.
Bradley was meant to start against Arsenal, and TAA got an early hook which makes me slightly question his current state, with regards to his fitness.
VVD also looks EXTREMELY threatening from set pieces.
One thing I would say however, is that if Szoboszlai is out, that is not good for Liverpool’s clean sheet chances.
He is not replaceable.
What he offers, off the ball, is incredible.
You simply have to observe how exploitable Gravenberch was against Arsenal to understand why.
I really like Ivan Toney as an option.
He’s always involved and I weirdly think the fixtures suit him quite nicely.
Especially the first one if Liverpool have defensive issues.
The type of player to turn up for the big game.
I imagine some extra motivation will be present as he looks to ensure a move to a Top 6 club this summer.
A late round audition of sorts.
Not much more to say.
I prefer the star studded front three of KDB, Haaland & Walker.
For most it really comes down to KDB vs Walker.
The involvement KDB has in a game ensures for me that not only does he have a high ceiling, but also a high floor.
I thought about this for a fair bit, and largely it’s a strategic decision (for most), as opposed to a footballing one.
It’s more so can you get a bit lucky and get away with it, by going without him.
Maybe you can, and I think the strategy is very plausible, I have no issues with it.
My preference however remains to have the 1st/2nd best player in the league.
💎 Luton; Take a breath
Their fixture schedule is below.
Luton have been an underrated team for a while, and I’m happy that their four goals against Newcastle has shifted the perspective of many.
BUT, they are not as good as Liverpool or Manchester Utd. They are not.
Kaminski is not keeping a clean sheet in DGW26, and I’m quite confident in saying he’s seeing a “-1” in his points tally for 2 goals conceded in both.
You are heavily realiant therefore on saves.
Villa (A) in 27, you’re going to play Areola/Dubravka and rightly so.
Which leaves DGW28 & BGW29.
(Which you could WC him in for!)
Thus, the same argument applies to Doughty but I’d be far more accepting of him considering his ability to get attacking returns.
However, still think it’s largely unnecessary to make sacrifices for him.
Ross Barkley was my favourite player during his time at Chelsea.
My absolute favourite. I will defend that man even if he drops 0/10’s week in, week out.
But, his role is not one built for FPL.
A deep lying playmaker with significant defensive responsibilities. Difficult for him to have a shot volume whereby it’s likely he scores, plus the positions he’s going to take the shots from are going to be of a low xG.
As a luxury, sure.
But, anything past that and I wouldn’t.
Adebayo is the only one I’d be interested in.
A physical specimen.
An underrated footballer.
A fantastic enabler at his price.
If you can, then it’s the only one I’m in favour of!
To reiterate, it’s completely different by the time we get to DGW28, the better DGW and at that point we would have passed BGW26.
But, we aren’t there yet!
💎 Captaincy
Most people seem to have forgot that we actually have GW24 to deal with!
The options for the armband:
Haaland
Jota
Nunez
Rashford
The standout fixture by some distance falls into Liverpool’s lap this week, facing a brave/stubborn Burnley side (depending on the way you look at it).
They will “have a go”.
The problem with “having a go”, is that Liverpool are one of the best teams on the planet to punish you for it.
With a game being played at such a speed, and Liverpool’s counter press combined with technical quality, they should be able to generate numerous chances this game.
So with that likely to be the case, both Jota & Nunez present themselves as stellar options.
Very simply put:
I prefer the matchup for Nunez, but Jota’s ceiling.
We’ve been shown repeatedly that Burnley’s CBs will provide you with opportunities to get in between and behind them.
Primarily through the usage of elite athleticism from the 9, and direct build up (Liverpool).
It doesn’t need to be more complicated than that, they offer space.
Jota just gives you a better ceiling (& floor) because he’s more clinical (is a midfielder & is trustworthy).
Pick your fruit (I’d so marginally choose Nunez).
I chose not to include KDB because I’m still just slightly uncertain with regards to xMins for this fixture (65-70 mins?), and most variables suggest Haaland is the better option so why would you.
Everton are likely to play a back four, and even if you are going to set up in a low-block, unless you play 5ATB to really neutralise Haaland, he’s still likely to get the better of you.
Still too much space for him to manufacture exactly what he wants.
Still too many opportunities to drag CBs out of position.
Not enough physical presence to completely stop him.
He’s at home, which is another big plus.
The only thing being he didn’t look super sharp, hence why if you go against him I think it’s completely fine as well, when you consider all the positives for Liverpool assets as well.
By now you should have realised I’m going to die on the Rashford hill.
All I’m saying is they look much better (still need to improve).
He looks sharp (ish).
And, if Emery is to utilise Cash in a way which can see him face so many isolated situations against Rashford.
If Villa are to continue to play in a manner which ensures they will be many transitions within the game, then it’s a game very nicely set up for him.
