We all need to understand the truth.
Also please read the entire thread.
You are seeing satellite image of mosque built by Timur after looting India and taking 1000 craftsmen as prisoners to Samarkand to build world's biggest mosque of his time.
Name of this mosque is Bibi-Khanym Mosque (Биби Хонум Масжиди)
It is in Samarkand of Uzbekistan. Here is a picture of how it looks today. Majestic isn't it!. But please wait for me to finish.
Now let me provide you some quick education on the elements of architecture for the mosques. These elements are also documented by MetMuseum. I will provide the links in the replies as usual.
The most important element in any mosque is the mihrab, the niche that indicates the direction of Mecca, the Muslim holy pilgrimage site in Arabia, which Muslims face when praying. It is this niche that gets marked first and only then mosque is built.
A Mihrab looks like this.
The qibla is the direction Muslims face when praying toward the Ka'ba in Mecca. The qibla wall is the wall in a mosque that faces Mecca.
Next you need to understand the concept of iwan. An iwan is a rectangular hall or space, usually vaulted, walled on three sides, with one end entirely open. An iwan looks like this.
The minbar is a pulpit in the form of a staircase on which the prayer leader (imam) stands when delivering a sermon after Friday prayer. The pulpit is usually situated to the right of the mihrab and is often made of elaborately carved wood or stone. A typical minbar looks like this.
Now how do you build a mosque with this knowledge? You build four iwans with one of the iwans facing qibla with that iwan having mehrab and to the right side of mehrab there will be a tall minbar. Let me share the plan of a Timurid mosque.
Do you the qibla iwan? (1)
Do you see the direction of north? (2)?
Mosques do not get built east west or north south, they always orient themselves to Mecca. Unless you are on same latitude of Mecca you can orient east west.
Unless you are on the same longitude of Mecca you can orient to North South!
Now come back to the satellite image of the mosque Timur built. Do you see it is not east west or north south. I have put a red line to show the quibla according to the mosque. Do you see it? Now are able to identify 4 iwans? I have marked them.
Yes. 1 is quibla iwan!
Do you see a central courtyard? This is a feature in Timurid mosques. It will have water source to washing feat. Since desert can boil the water, to keep the water cool, some shade providing trees are grown. Do you see that in the above picture?
Great going. Now you have understood the Timurid mosques in particular and mosques in general you will be able to figure out lot of things yourself. Mosques typically must have a rectangular praying area. And the dome of Quibla Iwan is the largest. Do you understand!
Now you know how to identify a mosque which was designed from ground up and what architectural elements it must have. This knowledge will come handy as Bharat prepares to reclaim all the temples. So this knowledge is 101 for you. I have spent considerable amount to collect this. Please share. Discuss. Teach.
Now some truth serum time. When you were wondering "how majestic was Timur's mosque".
Yes, it looks somewhat OK after it was rebuilt in 20th century using oil money. Let me share how it actually looked 200 years after Timur coughed blood and died (that was the curse of Hindus, whom he looted, raped, killed)
What was left after 200 years of construction!
Here is one Iwan. (Courtesy Library of Congress)
Here is mihrab
Possibly another Iwan going by the dome size.
You can also guess the size of the dome looking at size of the humans and cart (partially visible) in front of the structure.
Largest dome fell (that housed Qibla Iwan)
Now some questions to ponder. Tejo Mahalaya built possibly in 1300 is still standing! And it probably is much bigger than above structure.
Brahadeeshwara Big Temple withstood 7 earthquakes and still standing tall after what is possibly 1000 years! Think how you been had!
Now some parting shots to ring you some conscience.
This is the Mihrab of Tejo Mahalaya Mosque built by the squatters.
Who puts the tiles in the mihrab! (1)
Why does Minbar looking like done much later. (2)
You know how majestic is Tejo Mahalaya. Why did they do such a shoddy job here.
Look at the tile pattern.
Possibly tiles came first and when @asigoi was not looking a minbar is placed.
Thank you for your time. Now you have graduated to spread universal consciousness. Start loving your culture, country and people. It is #Bharat's century.
Bust the colonialism of two kinds which have held us back. #vasudhaivakutumbakam. Excuse my spell and grammar errors. English is my sixth language.
Yucks. I still see spell errors. Too late me . Please excuse me. Thank you for your support.
