Nehru made many religious discrimination related blunders.
For one religious group, he promoted Haj subsidy, Namaz prayers in Parliament and govt buildings, Iftar parties by govt officials and politicians, govt funded minority education till university level etc.

all for the sake of secularism. On the other hand, he tried to target a majority religious group with new code bill, absence of religious schools, government control of funds collected from their shrines etc.

Nehru himself said, he was English by temperament, Muslim by culture and Hindu by accident of birth. This kind of people are called crypto Musl!m or hidden Musl!m.
His grandson Rajiv Gandhi also continued the same trend.

In 1980s, when Salman Rushdie, a British citizen had written controversial book ‘Satanic Verses’, Indian government rushed to ban it because the book offended Musl!ms. In this case, Indian government was so proactive that it became the ‘first’ country to ban it immediately –

even before any Islamic country and Iran had done so.
PM Rajiv Gandhi is well known for his blunder on Shahbano Supreme Court judgement case where his govt brought a legislation under the pressure of Maulavis and Maulanas to reverse a SC judgement on divorce alimony case.

Clearly it was a big blunder and minority appeasement. Rajiv Gandhi also inaugurated a ‘minority’ university called Hamdard University in south Delhi.

In 1980s, eminent painter Makbul Fida Hussain (MF Hussain) started a dang€rous trend of painting Hindu goddess in n*de. This created lot of uproar in some parts of India as for them this is not art but insult to a religion.

If govt of that time acted strongly, things may not have reached excessive level. Liberal ppl however continued to support M F Hussain stating his art represents freedom of expression & not vulgarism. This is beginning of two groups in India – secular libr@ndu & nationalist goons
In 1990s, some Hindu religious groups filed complaints against the Indian Painter M.F. Hussain because he had depicted Hindu Goddesses Durga and Saraswati in n*de. Court dismissed those complaints under the painter’s

right to Freeedom .O.Ex (clearly judiciary was under pocket of congress that time). M F Husain initially enjoyed this fight as value of his paintings soared but he also suffered loss as some of his paintings were damaged by VHP and Shiv Sena activists in Ahmedabad art gallery.
