4 years ago I spent 90% of my time procrastinating
Here are the 7 principles I used to stop:
Here are the 7 principles I used to stop:
1. Define your life vision
The biggest cause of procrastination is a lack of vision for the future - and therefore a lack of reason to do the work.
Ask yourself 3 questions:
• What does your dream life look like?
• What's your dream schedule?
• Who do you want to become?

2. Set specific goals
You need a goal that drives you to your vision, but it needs to be specific.
Without specificity, you'll lack clarity - you'll be in a forest covered in fog and you’ll procrastinate each step.
• I want to lose weight -> I want to lose 20lbs in 4 months.

3. Have daily actions for each goal
Goals are great for long-term clarity - but they lack short-term clarity.
Break your goal down into 1-3 tasks that you need to complete each day.
This way you
• Create daily clarity
• Prevent overwhelm

And since the tasks add up to your goals which add up to your life vision, the work will be meaningful and you'll have a reason to do it.
4. Write down your goals
This isn't some manifestation crap.
By writing down your goals each morning, you'll train your brain to:
• Recognise your goal
• Look for opportunities to move toward it
That includes doing the work you’re meant to do - not procrastinating.

5. Use a shorter to-do list
A standard to-do list is a crazy 20+ tasks.
It’s straight up overwhelming.
And no matter how much you get done, you feel like you’ve never done enough.
• Use a 3-5 task to-do list of only high-priority tasks
• Have a secondary might-do list

6. No notifications
You sit down, ready to work
But then your phone pings and 30 minutes later you’re watching cat videos.
So have notifications turned off at all times and your phone turned off when you're working.
The best way to manage a distraction is to remove it.

7. Tight deadlines
Remember in school, you would finish your assignment the day before it’s due?
That's because of Parkinson’s Law:
“Work expands to fill the time allocated to it”
Tighten your deadlines and leave no time to procrastinate.
• 2 hours to do x -> 1 hour to do x
