There is heat wave in Nigeria.
Sensible heads of organisations/institutions should now let people dress down to avoid a heat stroke which can kill.
If you like continue to insist on suit/tie and kill everybody.
Pls RT this for our banks, offices, universities and HR to listen.
You are a bank executive.
You know that the generator has been spoilt for days.
The ACs are not working.
The banking hall is full, there are queues even outside. Everyone is visibly sweating.
But you are punishing every bank worker not wearing suit. Pls Where is the sense here?
You are a lecturer in a university or medical school. You are in a hot small lecture room with no AC/fans.
Every student (and even you) is using their books and plastic fans to blow themselves air.
But you focus on who is not wearing tie. Do you want them to fall down and die?
You are the Judge in a Court.
Thereโ€™s heat everywhere.
Both the innocent and the guilty are sweating ๐Ÿ˜…
But you and your lawyers still mandate yourselves that you must wear complete regalia of โ€˜jackets, choking collars, full robes and 17th century wigsโ€™.
In all that heat.
Why?
You are a โ€œconsultantโ€ in a teaching hospital. The Oga at the top.
You come for a ward round. Everyone is sweating. Patients, nurses, physiotherapists everyone.
But you are chasing medical students away for not wearing a tie to choke themselves and die at a young age.
Why sir?
You are running a small business. We understand you want everyone to look professional.
But everywhere is hot,
You donโ€™t have generator to power AC to keep the office cool but you are telling every worker to wear suit.
Now they are wet sweating like goats.
Does this make sense?
The examples can go on and on.
The worst thing that colonialism did to us as Africans was not just the control of our government, it was control of our minds and our reasoning.
Some things are simple common sense.
But our minds have been too colonised to even bother to think.
