Conventional metrics like CPI that mash up corruption into one "sausage" ๐ŸŒญ score are misleading
They systematically ignore "the corruption of the rich"
ACCESS MONEY can be both
- illegal vs. legal
- personal vs. institutional
Unbundled Corruption Index shows, whereas sausage indices don't:
- Overall, America has less corruption than China
- But in both, access money is the most dominant type of corruption

But whereas access money in China is primarily personal and illegal (e.g., massive bribes to politicians in exchange for benefits), that in US is institutional, not illegal, ambiguously problematic.
