At some level, you HAVE to just be ready to say: "Because rules aren't real, I feel myself better than you, I care more about myself than you, and I will kill you if you try to take from me."

The only even debatable part of my take here is that you should feel "better than" a political opp.
The rest is just obvious. The reason people oppose open borders or Communist-style redistribution of their goods is amoral/pragmatic and insanely simple: healthy people care more about themselves and their families than about strangers and enemies, and do not want to do illogical things that will clearly harm Group 1 in order to benefit Group 2.
