Let’s break another myth…
Nobody Gets Dressed for Him or Herself
How you look has less to do with how you see yourself. And more about what others think of you.
Those who believe the opposite lie to themselves and spread this misconception.
The consequences? Most people don't want to deal with the repercussions of making a negative impression. Yet they still want to receive positive feedback.
They do want the applauses. But reject criticisms.
You see, very few people will know you. Most will only have the surface-level version of you.
Strangers that will become friends and romantic partners follow such first impressions.
Unpredictable opportunities often arise when you emanate positive signals to your surroundings.
Even your boss trusts it more his first impression than you might think.
What I'm saying is that some people naturally fit a job. You see it by how they dress. By how they behave. By how they speak. By how they stand in the room. Not necessarily by how competent they are.
And that’s what I’m getting at.
Most People Sabotage Themselves by Not Understanding the Mechanics of Appearance
They are egoist about it. They think that the key is trying to please themselves. Or as the wokes say, to “accept themselves.”
“I’m not fat.”
“I’m not skinny.”
“I can wear whatever I want.”
Yes, you can. But don’t justify your choices as personal and hold them up as a banner of freedom. More importantly! Accept the consequences of choosing them.
Now let me tell you...
Life didn’t give you the chance to see yourself. You need a mirror. You need a camera.
I know it's so obvious that you might think I'm going crazy talking about it. But it sums up what I'm getting at.
You literally use tools to see how the world views you, adjust your appearance based on that visual feedback, and then expect me to believe that you're doing it for yourself?
The reality is that you are under MASSIVE influences.
You mostly want to look like some sexy actors in action movies. Or get some of your favorite influencers’ vibes.
You want people to see you with the same eyes as you see those influential figures. Badass. Masculine. Strong. Competent. Whatever.
It’s never. Has never been. And will never be about you.
So the only thing I’m asking you today is to recognize that there are much fewer (if not) inner choices than you might think.
Taste is a social tool.
Your taste is not entirely your own.
People's taste is not entirely their own.
Put your finger on these influences. Assess their effectiveness with the results you are looking for. Be an active player and then shape them.
And never believe those saying that they don’t care about the way others look at them.
